Evidence on behalf of Ms Leech concluded and the High Court was told that Independent Newspapers would not be calling any witnesses.

The jury of seven women and five men was sent away until Tuesday.

Closing speeches will then be made by lawyers for both sides.

Ms Leech is suing Independent Newspapers over a series of articles in the Evening Herald in 2004.

She says the articles falsely claimed she got Government PR contracts because she was having an affair with Minister Martin Cullen.
