Coca-Cola's bottling business has announced that it may close its warehousing and distribution depots in Dublin, Cork, Tuam, Tipperary, Waterford and Killarney, with a potential loss of 130 jobs.

Coca-Cola HBC, formerly Coca-Cola Bottlers, currently employs 1,250 people on the island of Ireland.

The company said a recent review of its operations showed that costs here are exceptionally high compared to other countries.

It said the cost base is not sustainable and a review suggested that the most viable option would be to fully outsource its warehousing and distribution operations.

Coca-Cola stressed that no final decision has yet been made and management is beginning a consultation process with unions.
