Mahon jury sent home for second night

The jury in the trial of Ronald McManus, who is accused of murdering Melissa Mahon, has been sent home for a second night.

The jury in the trial of Ronald McManus, who is accused of murdering 14-year-old schoolgirl Melissa Mahon has been sent home for a second night.

The 44-year-old Sligo man, who is also known as Ronnie Dunbar, of Rathbraughan Park in Sligo, denies murdering the teenager in September 2006.

He also denies threatening to kill his own daughter.

The prosecution claims that Ronald McManus killed the teenager and dumped her body in the River Bonnet in Sligo.

Her remains were found on the shores of Lough Gill in February 2008 after Ronald McManus' daughters alerted gardaí.

The jury has requested to review evidence given by videolink by one of his daughters and will resume deliberating in the morning.
