FG Wilson has yet to decide how many will be affected by next month's move.
A spokesman said the step was taken to avoid redundancies and would match production time to demand.
The business, founded in 1996 and acquired by US firm Caterpillar in 1999, has factories in Larne, Springvale in west Belfast and Monkstown in Newtownabbey, near north Belfast.
It makes gas and diesel generator sets which can supply anything from homes to power stations.
In April the company said 95 workers were to be made redundant.
In January it announced it was making 250 staff redundant.
Meanwhile, another Dublin technology company is setting up a development base in Northern Ireland.
Software developer Softedge Systems has established a centre of excellence in Newry, creating 15 new ICT posts.
The £700,000 investment has been offered support of £140,000 by the economic development agency Invest NI.
