36% increase in skin cancer cases

The Irish Cancer Society says that Ireland has witnessed a 36% increase in all new cases of skin cancer over the last 10 years.

The society also describes as 'worrying' the figures that show a 75% increase in women under age 50 presenting with malignant melanoma.

The society announced the figures at the launch of its annual SunSmart campaign.
