Speaking at the launch of his party's campaign, Mr Kenny said it was vital to send a strong team to the Parliament.
He said this was due to the increase in the number of member states, the reduction in the number of Irish MEPs, and the current economic crisis.
The party, which won five seats in 2004, is running seven candidates for the elections on 5 June.
