Four containers of medical supplies, used clothing, and other humanitarian supplies - which were bound for Gaza - are being returned to Galway and Cork by Egyptian authorities.

The shipment was organised by the Galway Palestine Children's Appeal and has been delayed at various stages en route to Gaza.

Egyptian authorities cited problems with the documentation on several occasions.

Galway organiser Treasa Ní Cheannabháin and her husband Dr Saber Elsafty are leaving for Gaza tomorrow in the hope of finding a swift resolution.
