A commemoration to mark National Holocaust Memorial Day has taken place at the Mansion House in Dublin.

The Holocaust Education Trust of Ireland commemoration was attended by four Holocaust survivors and President Mary McAleese.

27 January is the anniversary of the date of the liberation of Auschwitz and has been designated Holocaust Memorial Day.

It commemorates the men women and children persecuted because of their ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliations or religious beliefs.
