Hurley to be reappointed Governor

The Government is to reappoint the current Governor of the Central Bank, John Hurley, when his term of office ends in March.

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said he was anxious that the Governor would continue in office over the coming months 'to ensure continuity and leadership during the current disruption in financial markets'.

Mr Hurley, who was formerly secretary general at the Department of Finance, was appointed in 2002.
