Enrolment at a school in Co Kerry began this morning, ending a five-day wait for parents who had queued to secure places for their children.

Up to 60 parents had waited since Friday in freezing temperatures outside the Mercy Convent in Mounthawk in Tralee.

Principal John O'Roarke said the school had opened the gym to those queuing overnight.

Enrolment for September 2010 opened at 9.15am this morning.
