A group of parents and children from Gaelscoil Barra in Cabra in Dublin have protested outside the home and constituency office of Minister for Education Batt O'Keeffe in Cork.

The peaceful lunchtime protest lasted about 20 minutes.

The group of 15 children and five adults travelled by bus from Dublin to Ballincollig this morning.

They played drums outside before leaving a number of petitions calling for improvements to be made to their school on the doorstep.

There was no reply when they rang the door.

Two gardaí arrived at the scene following a telephone call but the protest dispersed peacefully soon afterwards.
