200 new jobs announced for Galway

US internet retailer CSN Stores has announced the creation of 200 jobs at its European base in Galway.

The positions will be filled over the next three years in customer services, IT and sales and marketing.

Speaking at today's announcement, Minister Éamon Ó Cuív said the company will be a significant employer in the west of Ireland.

CSN Stores LLC of Boston, Massachusetts, was established in 2002 and is privately owned by two Cornell University graduates, Niraj Shah and Steven Conine.

It is one of the biggest housewares and home furnishings e-retailers in the US.

CSN had sales of $202m (€160m) for the year ending 31 December 2007, an increase of 85% over the previous year.
