Fianna Fáil TD Mattie McGrath and five others have been found not guilty on all charges of assaulting a teenager in south Tipperary more than two years ago.

The six, including Mr McGrath's son Edmond, had pleaded not guilty to charges of violent disorder and assault causing harm.

The jury of seven men and five women took three and a half hours to make their decision.

The trial at Clonmel Circuit Court had lasted 11 days.

After closing submissions were made by Prosecution and Defence counsels Judge Donagh McDonagh sent out the jury at 2.50pm this afternoon.
