Some 300 members of the Progressive Democrats have indicated that they will be attending Saturday's special meeting called to decide the future of the party.
According to a spokesman, the official party membership stands at over 3,000.
The meeting, to be held at a hotel in Mullingar, will take place behind closed doors.
It is scheduled to get underway by mid morning on Saturday but that could be delayed by should additional members attending need to have their credentials checked.
The meeting will discuss a proposal from the leadership to have the party wound up.
