A 19-year-old Kerry man is facing a retrial on a charge of dangerous driving causing the deaths of a garda and a fireman in Co Limerick last year.
Two weeks ago, a jury at the trial of Niall Shannon, from Ballylongford in Co Kerry, failed to reach a verdict on a charge of dangerous driving causing the deaths of Brian Kelleher and Michael Liston during a road accident near Foynes on 25 February 2007.
The circuit court heard this afternoon that the DPP had consented to a new trial and a date will be fixed in December.
