Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern was taken to the Mater Hospital this afternoon after fracturing his leg.
The incident happened earlier today while Mr Ahern was walking down stairs.
The former Taoiseach is expected to be on crutches for a number of weeks as a result of the incident.
Informed sources say that Mr Ahern's injury, while painful, will not inhibit his attendance for any Dáil votes in the coming days.
