A spokesperson for eBay in Ireland says there will be fewer than 10 job losses here.

eBay employs 1,600 people in Ireland in its eBay and PayPal divisions.

Separately, Ireland West Airport Knock has confirmed that up to 14 staff will be made redundant after a staffing review.

The airport cited uncertainty in the aviation sector, the wider economic outlook and seasonal factors for the cuts.

It said it continues to employ more than 100 staff directly and remains focused on increasing services to the region.

Earlier today, a €21.8m investment at Dew Valley Foods in Co Tipperary was announced.

The investment will result in 55 new jobs at the plant in Thurles.

The venture is backed by the Government and supported through Enterprise Ireland.

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan announced the investment.

The initiative will lead to the creation of a new employee skills development programme and the expansion of an innovative research and development facility at the plant.

Enterprise Ireland's Derek Breen said it is working with Dew Valley Foods to increase the company's competitiveness and export capability.

Minister Coughlan said the multi-million euro investment is an endorsement of the company's ability to compete internationally.
