The Construction Industry Federation says it is highly unlikely that its members will ratify the national pay deal, following a meeting of construction employers with the Federation this morning.
The CIF says employers have now asked the Federation to seek a review of the Registered Employers Agreement, which prevents construction employers from claiming an inability to pay.
The agreement has been in place since the 1960s.
But the employers say they cannot sustain the REA in the absence of the 12 month pay pause that they had sought in the national pay talks.
