An investigation into the expenditure of FÁS over the past eight years is to be undertaken by the Comptroller and Auditor General.
A spokesperson for Tánaiste Mary Coughlan who made the announcement said the investigation was in response to speculation and negative publicity about FÁS.
The spokesperson added that the Minister has confidence in the leadership of the training and employment authority.
The spokesperson said Minister Coughlan would await the outcome of the examination before deciding whether or not any action was warranted.
