A new report shows that Galway's full-time fire brigade had the slowest average mobilisation time last year while Dublin and Limerick had the fastest.
The average time for the fire brigade in Galway's full time station to mobilise was 3.3 minutes, while Dublin and Limerick stations mobilised in 1.4 minutes.
Co Offaly's part-time fire stations were the slowest in the country to mobilise at 7.6 minutes.
The figures are contained in Service Indicators in Local Authorities 2007, a report just published by the Local Government Management Services Board.
