West Galway Progressive Democrat TD Noel Grealish has said he will be making no comment on speculation that he may be about to leave the party and join Fianna Fáil.
At his constituency office in Galway this morning, he told RTÉ News that newspaper speculation that he was about to leave the PDs was complete speculation.
He said he would be attending party meetings in Dublin later this week but so far had not received formal notification of these meetings.
When pressed if he was considering joining Fianna Fáil, he said it was public knowledge that he had had talks with the party over a period of time, but he would make no further comment on these.
He declined to say when he was last in contact with Fianna Fáil and when pressed if he was considering leaving the Progressive Democrats he again repeated that he would be making no comment on the issue at this time.
This afternoon, Progressive Democrat Senator Fiona O'Malley said renewed speculation over Mr Grealish was a distraction for the PDs.
On RTÉ Radio's News at One, Senator O'Malley said she was sure Mr Grealish would clarify his position.
