A 30-year-old man has appeared in court in Galway charged with unlawful possession of explosives at Oranmore on Saturday.
The court was told Oliver Mannion, of Renville West, Oranmore, was found in possession of a 'substantial amount' of industrial explosives.
Garda Paudie O'Shea, who gave evidence of arresting Mr Mannion, an unemployed single man, said he had replied 'no comment' when charged.
His solicitor, Gearóid Geraghty, applied for bail but this was opposed by gardaí, and Judge Mary Fahy remanded him in custody to appear before Harristown Court in Castlerea on Friday.
Three other men are still being questioned in connection with the seizure of a total of 17kg of explosives on Saturday.
