A man has appeared in court in Northern Ireland charged with attempted murder after failing to stop at a police checkpoint.

The 19-year-old is accused of failing to stop for police shortly after 1.45am on the Doagh Road, Ballyclare, in Co Antrim.

A police officer manning the checkpoint was allegedly forced to jump clear of a car.

The man also faces other motoring offences and will appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
