Businessman Ben Dunne has said he will run as an independent candidate in next year's European Parliament elections if there is a second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty before then.
He made the announcement on RTÉ Radio's Liveline programme today.
Speaking afterwards to RTÉ News he said he would most likely stand in the three-seat Dublin constituency.
He said that he, along with the majority of people here, wanted the European Union to become more democratic and until that happens the Lisbon Treaty should be shot down.
The Government has to listen to the majority of the people now he said, and they must make this clear to the French President when he visits here next week.
