Two people have died in separate road crashes in counties Kildare and Tipperary.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car in Co Kildare late this afternoon.

The crash happened at Kellystown Road in Leixlip, Co Kildare at around 4.30pm.

The motorcyclist was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he was pronounced dead.

Earlier today a 15-year-old boy, who was seriously injured when his bicycle collided with a motorcycle, died in hospital.

The crash happened in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, at 5.45pm yesterday evening.

The boy and the motorcyclist had been taken to South Tipperary General Hospital.

The motorcyclist is not believed to be seriously injured.

The Dungarvan road was closed for a time but has since reopened.
