Chad Irish soldiers' return delayed

watch

Irish soldiers due back to Dublin from Chad have been delayed by 48 hours and are expected to arrive tomorrow.

The group of 110 soldiers includes some 50 elite army rangers who have been in Chad since February preparing the way for the main group of 400 Irish peacekeepers who have recently taken up duty there.

A spokesman for the Defence Forces said the delay was caused by a technical fault with an aircraft being chartered in the UK.
