Tánaiste and Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan is to write to the management of British companies trading here seeking clarification of their pricing policy.

Tánaiste and Enterprise Minister Mary Coughlan is to write to the management of British companies trading here seeking clarification of their pricing policy.

She is also to meet the business and employers' organisation, organisation IBEC amid concerns about rising prices.

Ms Coughlan briefed her cabinet colleagues this morning about efforts to combat inflation.

Later in the Dail, Taoiseach Brian Cowen told the Labour Party Leader Eamon Gilmore that his Government would not tolerate consumers being ripped off.
