Sofa so good for record-breaking couch

Over 100 people will get the chance to put their feet up in south Dublin this weekend on the world's longest sofa.

Measuring over 51m (168ft), the sofa has travelled round the world and will be at Beacon South Quarter in Sandyford until Monday.

It was originally designed by BoConcept for Denmark's Aarhus Festival, one of the largest cultural events in Scandinavia.

The bright red couch takes over two hours to assemble and has been authenticated by the Guinness Book of World Records.

It weighs an unprecedented 1.4 tonnes, has 54 legs and seats at least 104 people.

So far on its world tour, the record-breaking piece of furniture has been to a number of countries and made a stop to Harrods in London.

It will be going on to travel to cities such as Dubai and Cairo.

Entertainers, including stilt walkers and a band, heralded its arrival in Sandyford last Thursday.
