Russia's parliament have confirmed Vladimir Putin as prime minister after new President Dmitry Medvedev said his former boss would retain a 'key role' in running the country.
The lower house of parliament, the State Duma, voted 392 to 56 in favour of Mr Putin's candidacy.
Mr Medvedev nominated Mr Putin after being inaugurated as president yesterday.
Mr Putin takes over the role of prime minister after serving eight years as president.
