Getting chewing gum on your shoes could be a thing of the past if a new non-stick gum is a success.

Revolymer says its new Clean Gum has a special polymer that makes it far less sticky.

The company announced today it has raised €12.75m from new investors as well as an extra €1m from its early backers to help the gum reach the market.

The gum is the result of polymer research at the University of Bristol, where the company was created as a research spin-off in 2005.

Today's chewing gums are made from synthetic latex, which is resistant to the weather and is strongly adhesive.
