Finucane family seeking independent inquiry

The family of the murdered Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane have told the Taoiseach they still want an independent inquiry into his death.

Today's meeting with Bertie Ahern came after the Northern Ireland Office told the family that preparations for such an inquiry have stopped.

The Taoiseach told the family the Government here was fully behind its campaign for an inquiry.

Pat Finucane was shot dead in 1989.
