A large crowd has gathered at Sligo Court house in anticipation of Ronald McManus also known as Ronnie Dunbar being brought before a special sitting tonight.
They shouted abuse at the accused as he was driven in the side gate to the courthouse.
In a brief hearing with Judge Oliver McGuinness, he was charged with the murder of Melissa Mahon on a date unknown between 14 and 30 September 2006 at his address 63 Rathbraughan Park, Sligo.
The court was told that when the charge was put to him at Sligo garda station tonight, he replied 'nothing to say'.
Ronnie Dunbar was granted free legal aid and remanded in custody to appear again in court on 17 April.
As he was driven away in a garda car, the crowd pelted eggs and stones at the vehicle.
