Counterfeit DVD operation targeted

Around 80 DVD burners and about €400,000 worth of counterfeit DVDs have been seized by gardaí in Balbriggan.

Around 80 DVD burners and 30,000 counterfeit DVDs have been seized by gardaí in Balbriggan. 

The DVDs seized are estimated to be worth more than €400,000.

20 printers, 10 TVs, 10 photocopying machines, audio equipment, and two vehicles were also seized.

The seizure was made as part of an operation started a year ago to target illicit goods going into the weekend open air market at Balbriggan off the M1 motorway at the Balbriggan bypass.

The seizure took place last night during a raid on a premises between Balbriggan and the Naul.

INFACT, the anti-copyright theft organisation, was also involved in the operation.
