Galway city council have found the source of the leak which has caused the western side of the city and part of the county to be without water since Wednesday.

The leak is on Siobhan McKenna Road and the fact that it has been found means water should be restored within the next 24 hours.

Water tankers are available for householders and businesses across the western side of the city and parts of the county.

Water supplies were shut down west of Bishop O'Donnell Road out as far as and including Barna and Moycullen.

The problem concerned a leak in a mains pipe supplying Tonabrocky reservoir from the Terryland Waterworks.
