Irish coastguards help in rescue
Saturday, 1 March 2008 17:45Irish coastguards are currently engaged in a rescue operation off the southern coast.
A crewman aboard a Dutch fishing vessel is seriously injured and needs to be airlifted to hospital.
The vessel, Alida, is currently in British waters.
As the operation is nearer to the Irish coastline, the Irish rescue helicopter based in Waterford has agreed to assist.
Meanwhile, a Spanish crewman was successfully airlifted to hospital after suffering a heart attack aboard a fishing vessel off the coast of Cork.
The Spanish vessel called for help at 7am this morning.
