A seven-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister have been killed in a road accident in Co Kildare.

They were passengers in a car that collided with a truck in Walterstown in Nurney at around 8.30am this morning.

A woman in her 30s and her three children were in the car at the time of the crash. The child is being treated for serious injuries at Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.

The woman has been transferred from Portlaoise to Tallaght Hospital where her condition is described as critical.

Woman dies following Kerry crash

A woman in her 70s has died in hospital following a road crash in Co Kerry earlier this week.

The accident happened on the Killorglin to Glenbeigh road on Tuesday.

The woman died on Wednesday at Kerry General Hospital where she was being treated.

Results of a post mortem examination indicate that she died as a result of injuries she sustained in the road crash.
