Garda chief defends casework on Lynn

Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy has said that gardaí are discharging their responsibilities in relation to missing solicitor Michael Lynn to the courts and making the information available to the authorities.

Mr Murphy said the question of whether Mr Lynn would be charged with the criminal offence in the future was a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

He said there were two issues for gardaí. Gardaí are investigating the complaints that have been made to them and are also assisting the High Court in enforcing its orders where that is possible.

He said gardaí have to gather the evidence and send a file to the DPP and that is what they will do.
