Cigarettes seized at Dublin airport

112,000 cigarettes were seized at Dublin Airport today from passengers arriving on a flight from Riga, Latvia.

Revenue's Customs officers made the seizure as part of an operation targeting a cigarette smuggling gang.

The gang has been selling cigarettes on the black market throughout Ireland.

The cigarettes seized today are valued at €38,080.

In a separate operation, Customs officers seized 27,000 cigarettes from passengers arriving on a flight from Tenerife.

Last year, Customs officers at Dublin Airport seized 38.8m
cigarettes and 746kgs of tobacco.
