Sligo - One dead, two injured

A murder investigation is continuing following the shooting of a 39-year-old man in Cranmore, Co Sligo.

He has been named as David Lynch, who was from the area.

A post mortem, which was carried out at Sligo General Hospital this afternoon, confirmed that Mr Lynch died of a gunshot wound.

It is understood the attack was carried out by a lone gunman as Mr Lynch got out of a van outside a house on Collery Drive in Cranmore.

A 12-year-old boy and a 44-year-old man were also injured in the incident, which took place shortly after midnight.

The scene has been preserved and gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area between midnight and 1am to come forward.
