A man was killed after his car left the road and fell around 45 metres down an embankment in north Antrim today.
It is believed the victim was in his late 20s.
He has not yet been named.
North Antrim SDLP MLA Declan O'Loan has called for the installation of safety barriers on the Ballyeamon Road near Cushendall where the incident happened.
He is the first victim on Northern Ireland's roads in 2008.
Yesterday brother and sister Thomas and Siobhan Maughan died when their car collided with another vehicle outside Enniskillen.
They had travelled from England to attend their grandmother's funeral Mass in Irvinestown when the accident happened.
In 2007 a total of 112 people lost their lives on Northern Ireland's roads.
