The search for missing Irish backpacker Ronan Lawlor has been called off in Chile.
The 28-year-old Laois man has not been in touch with family or friends since he entered Torres del Paine national park on the Argentina - Chile border on 18 November.
Last week the search was narrowed to a certain area of the park after authorities spoke to a couple who had spoken to Mr Lawlor about his travel plans.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has informed the Lawlor family of the decision to call off the search.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern expressed his sadness and said his thoughts and prayers were with the family at this time of year.
