The Small Firms Association has urged the public to buy Irish products in the run-up to Christmas.

With the Christmas spend in Ireland estimated at up to €4.5bn, the association says buying home grown produce will have a positive knock-on effect for the economy next year.

The SFA Chairman, Pat Crotty, said buying Irish amounts to a long-term investment here.
