The jury in the libel action being taken by RTÉ broadcaster Paddy O'Gorman against the Ireland on Sunday newspaper, which is now the Irish Mail on Sunday, has been discharged because of an article in today's Irish Daily Mail.

Mr O'Gorman was suing the paper because of an article relating to the Celebrity Farm programme in 2003, in which he was a contestant.

He claimed that the article in which fellow contestant Gavin Lambe Murphy was interviewed, defamed him and damaged his reputation.

A colour piece in today's Irish Daily Mail was drawn to the attention of Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne this morning and she discharged the jury.

A new date will now have to be set for the action.
