Unions to vote on Dublin Bus proposals

Unions and management involved in the dispute at Dublin Bus have received new recommendations from the Labour Court.

Unions and management involved in the dispute at Dublin Bus have received new recommendations from the Labour Court.

All sides spent the day at a special sitting of the court to try and resolve the dispute which has grounded dozens of buses at the Harristown Depot in north Dublin.

The two unions representing bus workers have called a meeting of their members tomorrow to vote on the court's proposals.

The National Bus and Rail Union will vote on the recommendations in a secret ballot at its headquaters on Parnell Street between midday and 6pm.

While SIPTU members will meet to discuss the proposals at Liberty Hall at midday.

Neither side are commenting on the content of the proposals however earlier both unions and management said they were hopeful of a resolution.

A Dublin Bus representative said very extensive discussions took place today on the operational issues involved in the dispute.

The dispute centres on roster arrangements for two new cross-city bus routes has disrupted services across parts of north and west Dublin.

Some 60,000 bus commuters in the capital have been affected by the strike at the Harristown Depot since Monday.
