No hot water in Tullamore hospital

The Irish Nurses Organisation has confirmed that hot water has not been available in a section of the Regional Hospital in Tullamore for the last six days.

It is understood that auxiliary staff members have been brought in to boil water for patient use.

The Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore said wards were without water for some hours today because of maintenance work, but the system has returned to normal.

The hospital said the maintenance problems coupled with a fall in temperature may have impacted the water temperature in older parts of the hospital.

The HSE Midlands have declined to comment on the situation.
