It is understood Sinn Féin's Martin Ferris is to be given a place on the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee, after the party complained that it was the victim of a 'travesty of democracy'.
Caoimghín Ó Caoláin, Sinn Féin's leader in the Dáil, complained that he had been kept off the Health Committee and that his colleague Martin Ferris had been given no place on any committee at all.
He accused the Government Chief Whip of 'gamesmanship' over the issue.
But Tánaiste Brian Cowen said it was up to the other Opposition parties to accommodate Sinn Féin if they wished, adding that there was a 'fair bit of gamesmanship' on the Opposition benches as well.
The four Sinn Féin TDs were the only ones to support having a vote on the issue, and a minimum of ten is required to force a vote.
However, it is understood Deputy Ferris is now to be added to the Agriculture Committee next week.
