The Irish part of a funeral for a young Irish woman who died while serving with the US forces in Afghanistan has taken place in Co Galway.
Over 300 people attended a service in Connemara for 29-year-old Ciara Durkin who was shot dead in mysterious circumstances last month in Afghanistan.
Her family emigrated to Massachusetts when she was ten years old.
She was killed within a secure US base in Bagram last month where she was posted.
Part of her ashes were buried today in Connemara, the rest will be buried at the US army cemetery at Arlington, in Washington D.C.
The US military authorities investigation into her death is ongoing.
