A 32-year-old man has appeared at Kilmainham District Court charged with the murder of Amanda Jenkins in an apartment in Dublin over the weekend.

Detective Inspector JJ Keane of Kilmainham Garda Station told the court that he arrested Stephen Carney of Anna Livia Apartments at 10.10pm last night for the murder of Ms Jenkins of the same address between 5 and 7 October.

He told Judge Patrick McMahon that the accused was charged in his presence by Sergeant Gearóid McCarthy.

No objection was made to the application for legal aid.

Judge Patrick McMahon remanded the accused in custody, to appear again at Clover Hill Court next Tuesday.
