Man killed in Limerick road crash

A man has been killed in a road accident near Kildimo in Co  Limerick.

The 20-year-old man was the driver of a car, which collided with a truck on the N69  Limerick to Askeaton road at around 4pm.

The driver of the truck sustained serious, but not life threatening injuries, and has been taken to the Mid West Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The accident happened on about 18km from Askeaton on the Limerick city side. The road is also known as the Coast Road that runs from Limerick to Listowel.

Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are warned to expect delays. Drivers have been asked to take the N20 as an alternative route.
