The National Trust in Northern Ireland is to intervene in the controversy over the Giant's Causeway visitors' centre in Co Antrim when it is discussed by a Stormont committee today.
The trust owns the causeway and has expressed misgivings after Northern Ireland Environment Minister Arlene Foster said she was considering granting planning permission to a private developer.
The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Industry, Nigel Dodds, is also appearing before a committee enquiring into the controversy after he decided to drop plans, costing over £21m, to build a public facility at the World Heritage site.
A north Antrim businessman, Seymour Sweeney, who wants to develop the site on his land, has insisted he has nothing to hide despite the fact that he is a member of the DUP party.
